We were thrilled to co-host an event about capital raising for female entrepreneurs and women owned businesses.  With Plum Alley and the best-of-the-best women's networking groups, 6-Figures was proud and honored to be a part of the conversation.  Over 150 women -- and a few very good men -- learned about how crowdfunding can help scale a business, be used to promote a new product or service, and can demonstrate market demand to Angels and VCs for future capital raises.  Thank you to our fabulous co-hosts for making this evening a tremendous success. 

After a full summer run of 5 consecutive sold out events, we were excited to launch our Fall series at Henri Bendel.  6-Figures founder and branding expert Jan Mercer Dahms discussed the importance of good first impressions and how to create and implement a personal branding strategy that will wow clients, potential customers, social networks, and communities at large. 

We kicked off Summer in style!  A BIG thank you to our guests who attended our event in support of Friends of Island Academy.  Thank you to our highly creative experts, Jane Applegate, Emily Lutzker, and Michael Roderick for their tips for how to tap into our creative juices to enhance all aspects of our professional lives.  Thank you for our silent auction donors, including Marisa Perry Atelier and Chef Shawn Jones at B4, whose culinary creations left us wanting more and more!  And most of all, thank you to the students and graduates of Friends of Island Academy for sharing their stories, aspirations, and dreams with us. 

SmartCEO Magazine and 6-Figures join forces!  We announced our new joint partnership on May 28, 2014 with an exclusive cocktail party at the Residences Atop The Andaz Hotel.  Over 150 of NYC's best-of-the-best CEOs, business owners, entrepreneurs, and corporate executives from industries as diverse as finance, media, healthcare, technology, philanthropy, fashion, marketing and communications, and consumer products enjoyed cocktails, gourmet appetizers, as we watched 360 degree sunset views from Wall Street in the Financial District.  Our evening supported Bottomless Closet, a charity that provides professional clothing, job readiness, and post-employment training and coaching services to women on assistance and working-poor women. 

6-Figures co-hosted an evening of shopping & celebration to benefit Women's Initiative NY.  We networked, enjoyed cocktails and appetizers, and were tremendously inspired by the women and girls that benefit from Women's Initiative NY.  Thank you to Escada for hosting and supporting this very important cause. 

6-Figures kicked off 2014 with a mini workshop session on Emotional Intelligence.  Led by Nancy Lucas, an Emotional Intelligence expert who has over 20 years experience in professional training and development in the global financial sphere, including tenures at Deutsche Bank, Barclays, JP Morgan.  Also on the Faculty at NYU's Leadership and Human Capital Management Department, Nancy is now a Director at AIG.  Of course, we also socialized, networked, enjoyed tasty treats and adult beverages.  A special thank you to Regus for providing the venue space for our evening. 

Our very first 6-Figures BYOD event -- Bring Your Own Dude!  Men were welcome at our holiday party as we celebrated a night of culture, arts, & giving back.  Overlooking the Times Square New Year's Eve ball at The Toshiba Center, our evening supported tay-bandz, a pediatric research organization that raises funds to fight cancer.  Premium spirit tastings and our 6-Figures signature drink were provided by Local Choice Spirits, an initiative with a humanitarian twist. 

We joined forces with GLOW Beauty Magazine to host a pre-holiday bash at Erno Laszlo.  With very special guests Angelo David, Dr. Ellen Marmur, Paige Novick, and Jacqui Stafford, we toasted in the holiday season.  Each guest received a $100 gift spa card from Erno Laszlo and special discounts throughout the evening.  It was truly an evening to remember. 

Women contribute $7 trillion in consumer and business spending in the U.S.  1.3 million of women earn $100K or more a year.  40% of all private American businesses are owned by women.  And yet, a recent national study found that 41% of affluent women were "not at all" confident about their ability to invest.  What contributes to this lack of self-confidence?  How can we shift assumptions and beliefs to ensure a long-term fiscally safe and rewarding future for ourselves, our families, and our legacy? 

At our Oct. 17th event, we were joined by special guests Arlene Weidberg and Susan Hirshman, awe-inspiring women who have built successful careers in real estate, stock and traditional portfolio management, and financial consulting. 

We discussed what we can do to change our own personal habits as related to spending today, saving for tomorrow, and investing wisely.  We explored strategic investment options, asset accumulation, and how to build a healthy personal financial bottom-line. 

And of course, true to the spirit of each 6-Figures event, we socialized, networked, enjoyed tasty treats, adult beverages, and amazing views overlooking Times Square.

We celebrated Fashion Week in our very own 6-Figures way -- complete with a sunset view.  At our September 2013 event, we discussed the importance of good first impressions, creating a style that is unique, authentic personal branding, and how to wow one's even most challenging critics.  Our expert panelists chatted about creating a personal image with class, dignity, and style -- while staying current, relevant, and fresh.

Our panelists for the evening included:

Sally Morgan -- Founder of Sing Like You Speak.  Vocal trainer, entrepreneur, author, and singer/songwriter, Sally literally wrote the book on finding your voice.  An innovator in the field of vocal training for 25 years, Sally's work is based on the latest medical, acoustical, and therapeutic research.  Sally is the author of Sing Like You Speak:  The Morgnanix Method and 125 Secrets to Help You Speak Like A Pro. Sally's clients can be found on Broadway, on major recording labels, the Conan O'Brian Show, A Prairie Companion, and in Federal Courts, The US Senate, and in corporate boardrooms.

Tania Sterl -- Fashion Designer and Founder, Sterl On Style Image Consulting.  Tania spent 20 years immersed in the business of fashion:  from design to sales to production management.  Tania was a senior designer for Donna Degnan, and was featured in WWD, In Style, Marie Claire, and Lucky Magazine.  She is a frequent speaker at Savvy Ladies, a nonprofit that empowers women through financial literacy. 

Tarsha Gibbons -- Image Consultant and Stylist.  Tarsha works holistically with clients to enhance their professional and personal images.  Color is Tarsha's specialty, and she develops custom color solutions to breathe life and excitement and WOW to how clients look on the outside, and how they feel on the inside.  Her clientele includes entrepreneurs, stay-at-home moms, and CEOs.  Tarsha is firmly committed to health and wellness and conducts workshops for children. 

A thank you to our hosts at Bongo in the West Village, the perfect venue for an event about image.  Bongo pays tribute to mid-century design -- we definitely felt very Mad Men as we socialized, networked, enjoyed incredible appetizers and learned how to WOW. 

On a sultry summer evening, an intimate group of 15 women met to discuss Lean In, by Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook.  We dissected, debated, shared our experiences, and discussed the inter-generational impact of the author's words.  And of course, we networked, socialized, enjoyed tasty treats & adult beverages.  A very special thank you to our Corporate Sponsor, Regus for providing our meeting space.

Our evening opened with 6-Figures Founder, Jan Mercer Dahms, posing the question, "When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"  Many 6-Figures women had informally chatted about a "Plan B" or a "Second Life," where our careers would have significant meaning and fulfillment.  Realizing that many of our professional dreams linked back to our aspirations we had as little girls, we created an entire event dedicated to exploring that internal feeling that something was missing in our professional spheres.  We discussed living up to our fullest potential, getting stuck on executing our dream careers, planning for life changes, and how to enjoy our "Second Life" once we've achieved it. 

We were joined by panelists who have that "wow factor."  They all left their successful corporate careers to reinvent themselves, and continued to inspire, motivate, and embrace change.  They shared with us their personal stories, pivotal learning lessons, and tips for getting from Point A to Plan B.

Gurjot Sidhu | CEO and Creative Director, Gurjot New York.  Once a management consultant and e-commerce CEO, Gurjot experienced first hand the lack of high-quality, relevant businesswear available in the market for women.  Today, Gurjot New York is a luxury bespoke, custom, and ready-to-wear line for the professional women. 

Christi Scofield | President & Founder, Icebreaker Entertainment; Author, Entrepreneur.  For Christi, it all started with being incredibly bored playing a board game during a ski trip.  After designing one very sexy board game, Christi is now the CEO of an international consumer products company, including apparel, games, iPhone apps, and beauty supplies. 

Maggy Siegel | President, Siegel Strategic Consulting; CEO & COO Extraordinaire.  Classically trained pianist turned innovative agent of corporate change, Maggy's accomplishments include:  President & COO, Dylan's Candy Bar; President, Nina Shoe Corp; CEO, Judith Leiber; President, Baume & Mercier; and VP level positions at Chanel, Coach & Tiffany & Co.

Michelle Tillis Lederman -- Communications trainer and networking extraordinaire, Michelle is the author of The 11 Laws of Likability.  The CEO of Executive Essentials, Michelle leads seminars and delivers keynote speeches for Fortune 500 companies, universities, high schools, and non-profit organizations.  Her new book, Heroes Get Hired, is dedicated to helping vets and their spouses return to civilian careers.

Jean Criss -- Highly acclaimed for her sales and marketing innovation, Jean is a true entrepreneur.  Her new trilogy series, My Pain Woke Me Up - Bliss, Legal Injustice & Live Your Dreams, are all based upon Jean's experience with breast cancer and her inspiration and promise to survive.  CEO of Jean Criss Media, Jean delivers creative digital media solutions in the health/wellness, fashion, spirits, music, and publishing arenas.

Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus -- Authors of The Nanny Diaries, Emma and Nicola celebrated the longest-running hardcover bestseller of 2002, which was also made into a major motion picture in 2007.  Emma and Nicola have also authored Citizen Girl, Dedication, The Nanny Returns, Over You, The Real Real, and Between You and Me.  Their upcoming hardcover, The First Affair, debuted in August 2013. 

Tamara Reynolds -- Esteemed chef, Tamara, provided our tasty treats for the evening!  Tamara is the author of Forking Fantastic, founder of Sunday Night Dinner and can be seen every week on Cooking Channel's Unique Eats.  In her most recent venture, she combined forces with husband Karl in Cooking Channel's special Married With Dishes. 

As one of only 250 people in the world trained in the field of Applied Positive Psychology, Carin Rockind presented scientific evidence to describe the biological changes that happen in our bodies when the very powerful happy emotion takes center stage -- and how tapping into this emotion internally can result in measurable, life-altering, postiive changes for our careers, with our friends & family, and when we network.

And networking -- with tasty treats and adult beverages, of course -is exactly what we did.  Over 65 accomplished women attended our event at the rooftop lounge atop the Residences at the Andaz Hotel in the Financial District. 

We cheered and toasted at our pre-Spring cocktail party at Rossano Ferretti Hairspa, with a very special appearance by Mr. Ferretti himself.  we discussed his philosophy around The Method, which blends the essence of femininity, a creativity that rejects conformity, and hair styling that is simultaneously natural, yet sophisticated and respectful.  Every 6-Figures member received a $50 gift card!

An after-work meet-up to kick start the weekend, we met at Millesime for cocktails and conversation.  In the heart of Flatiron, Millesime -- French for "vintage" -- with a Tiffany skylight dome circa 1904, original mosaic floor and century-old bar.  Named a best new restaurant by Esquire Magazine and New York Journal, Millesime's comfy, yet sophisticated, setting provided the perfect home away from home setting for our evening of fancy cocktails, tasty treats, and socializing and networking with 35 fabulously successful women.
